What we do...

Life Skill Sessions
We provide structured life skills sessions designed to help young people build the confidence and practical abilities they need for independent living. These sessions cover essential areas such as budgeting, cooking, shopping, managing appointments, personal care, and maintaining a home. Delivered in a supportive and hands-on way. Our life skill sessions empower young people to develop responsibility, make informed decisions, and prepare successfully for adulthood.

Keyworker Sessions/Meetings
We hold regular key worker sessions and meetings that put each young person’s voice, wishes, and feelings at the centre of their support. These sessions provide a safe space to share thoughts, address challenges, and set personalised goals in areas such as education, life skills, emotional wellbeing, and future planning. By actively listening and offering consistent guidance, we empower young people to take ownership of their progress, build confidence, and develop the skills they need for greater independence and personal growth.

Education/Work
We actively support young people to engage in education, training, and employment opportunities. Our team works closely with schools, colleges, training providers, and employers to ensure each young person receives the encouragement and guidance they need to succeed. From help with applications and CV writing to preparing for interviews and maintaining attendance.
Roots to full bloom - Independence Model
At Woodland Initiative we have a bespoke four-stage independence model that reflects the natural growth of a tree, symbolising the development of each young person from arrival to independence. It is fully aligned with the Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023 and the Social Care Common Inspection Framework (SCCIF), ensuring progress is tracked and supported in a structured, nurturing way.
Stage 1:
Taking Root
The first phase focuses on our young person’s arrival and beginning to feel safe and settled.
Stage 2: Growing Strong
We see their confidence building through relationships, routine, and participation.
Stage 3:
Branching Out
Our young person begins to take responsibility and making plans for their future.
Stage 4:
Full Bloom
Our young person is ready to transition and thrive independently.
Safeguarding
At Woodland Initiative, safeguarding and child protection are at the heart of everything we do with young people and their families. All staff receive comprehensive training to recognise and respond sensitively to safeguarding concerns, tailored to each young person’s individual needs, family circumstances, and the legal requirements of supported accommodation. Staff are also trained to remain vigilant to potential risks, ensuring young people are protected and supported effectively. Our team follows clear, robust procedures and guidelines to maintain the highest safeguarding standards, and we have a transparent whistleblowing policy in place, empowering staff to report any concerns safely and confidently to protect the wellbeing of the young people we support.
