About us...
Since 2018, Woodland Initiative has been dedicated to empowering young people across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire to build confidence, resilience, and independence. Our experienced and compassionate team supports young people with a wide range of complex needs, including Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE), Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), survivors of modern-day slavery, ADHD, learning difficulties, autism, mental health needs, PTSD, attachment difficulties, trauma, self-harm, and behaviours that challenge. We understand that every young person’s journey is unique, and we tailor our support to meet their individual needs.
At Woodland Initiative, we create safe, nurturing homes where young people feel valued, respected, and heard. We celebrate diversity and are committed to providing an inclusive environment where everyone is treated with dignity, regardless of gender, age, culture, religion, race, or sexuality.
Our Aims...
- To make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people through a fully person-centred approach.
- To provide time, space, and consistent support so young people can develop essential life skills, build emotional resilience, and improve their overall wellbeing.
- To deliver tailored, individual support plans through our experienced support workers and dedicated key worker system.
- To offer bespoke packages of support that reflect each young person’s unique needs, goals, and aspirations.
- To work in partnership with professionals and families, including social workers, personal advisors, families, and commissioning teams, to create and implement clear, achievable pathways forward.
- To empower young people to build confidence, independence, and self-belief in preparation for adulthood.
- To ensure every young person is equipped with the practical skills and emotional readiness needed for successful future independence.
Our Values...
We are a non-judgemental, caring and compassionate team. We believe every young person deserves privacy, respect and understanding, no matter their past experiences.
We celebrate individuality and recognise that everyone is unique. We are fully committed to challenging bullying, discrimination, racism and any form of social exclusion.
Our goal is to help young people discover their strengths and reach their full potential. We support them to build important life skills, grow in self-esteem and confidence, and develop the emotional resilience they need for a successful adult life. We understand that not everyone will feel ready for independent living when they first arrive, and for some it may feel overwhelming. With patience, guidance and consistent support from our team, young people are given the opportunity to learn and develop the skills they need at their own pace.
We work in line with Local Authority expectations for each young person’s progress while they are using our service. To make sure they are moving forward positively, we complete weekly and monthly progress summaries and track clear, evidence-based outcomes to celebrate their achievements and identify where further support may be needed.
Our Homes...
Each of our homes offer a comfortable and welcoming space, with dedicated living and dining areas. Each young person is provided with their own space/bedroom with a double bed, bedside table, chest of drawers and wardrobe space. Our fully equipped kitchens encourage staff and young people to cook together, building practical life skills while strengthening positive relationships. All properties provide access to a communal television and Wi-Fi, ensuring young people stay connected and engaged.
